The dark, nearly black leaves are covered in tiny white speckles, and show some of the most intense blue iridescence of any begonia under certain conditions. U485 is notoriously fussy, but is actually quite a stable plant when properly cared for. Like most begonias it kind of likes being pot bound, and kind of hates heat. Unlike most begonias, it has no problem being slightly damp all the time. Our stock plant actually lives beneath one of our benches, in a spot that never really dries out.
